Privacy Policy Algorithm Update Alerts

Last updated: 21 October 2026

Algorithm Update Alerts for Google Search™ ("the extension") is a Chrome extension made by Martijn Jeurissen, Golden SEO Protocol. This policy explains which data the extension handles and what it does with it.

1. Data the extension reads
- Google's public Search Status Dashboard feed (status.search.google.com). This is public information about Google Search updates and incidents. It contains no personal data.
- Only when you switch on the optional Search Console overlay: the performance chart on Search Console pages you open (search.google.com/search-console). The extension reads the dates and the position of the chart in your browser, to draw Google update markers on it. It does not read, store or send your Search Console figures.

2. Data the extension stores
- Your settings: which notifications you want, day or night view, and whether the Search Console overlay is on. These are stored in Chrome's own storage and may be synced by Chrome between your own devices if you use Chrome sync.
- A local copy of finished Google updates from the public feed, so the history stays complete.
No personal data is stored.

3. What the extension does not do
- It does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data, Search Console data, browsing history or page content.
- All processing happens locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to Golden SEO Protocol or to any third party.
- It does not use analytics, tracking, cookies or advertising.

4. Permissions
- Notifications: to tell you when a Google update starts and ends.
- Alarms and storage: to check Google's public feed every 5 minutes and to remember your settings and the update history.
- Scripting and access to search.google.com/search-console and search.google.com/u/* (optional, off by default): only used for the Search Console overlay. You can switch it off at any time in the extension's Settings, which also removes the access.

5. Data retention and removal
Settings and the update history stay in your browser until you remove the extension. Removing the extension deletes all data it stored.

6. Changes to this policy
If the extension starts handling data differently, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
